UPMC Altoona is hiring a casual Registered Nurse to help support our T14 Surgical Trauma unit!
Tower 14 is a 23-bed medical surgical unit specializing in care of adult post-surgical and low acuity trauma patients in the front, and an 18-bed medical telemetry unit specialist in caring for oncology and palliative care patients in the back end We are the unit of choice for abdominal surgeries, including, but not limited to colon resections, cholecystectomies, and appendectomies, as well as general medical cases such as sepsis, renal insufficiency, respiratory conditions, pancreatitis, and acute on chronic illness. Our nurses are the only inpatient nurses in the hospital trained to administer chemotherapy. We are the only unit in the hospital equipped with 5 palliative care suites to accommodate our palliative patients and families.
*This position has a set pay rate of $30.00/hour*
Purpose:
Provides direct and indirect care to patients utilizing the nursing process. Provides leadership for the nursing team, and contributes to the education of a variety of members of the staff and students.
Responsibilities:
- Document/records appropriate information required in performance of responsibilities in relation to the job description.
- General nursing ability.
- Demonstrates knowledge and ability to adapt to clinical treatment and instructional aspect of care to all stages of the life cycle and to various states of health and disease.
Qualifications
Minimum of 1 year experience
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Act 34
