UPMC Altoona is hiring a per diem Registered Nurse to help support our Acute Dialysis Unit – this is a 5-bed unit that serves the adult population requiring dialysis or plasmapheresis services.
*Set pay rate for this position is $30.00/hour - no on-call required*
The Acute Dialysis Unit allows the nurse to function in an acute care setting as well as collaborating with our Intensive Care, Progressive Care, and Med-Surg team to serve our critically ill patients. We provide services to inpatients, observation, emergency patients, and outpatient-post procedure. Services include hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis (CAPD and CCPD) for acute, chronic, and transient patients on a 24 hour, seven days per week basis. Plasmapheresis is also provided by our exceptional staff; short and long term.
As a member of this team, you will provide direct and indirect care to patients utilizing the nursing process, leadership for the nursing team, and contribute to the education of a variety of members of the staff and students.

- Document/records appropriate information required in performance of responsibilities in relation to the job description.
- General nursing ability.
- Demonstrates knowledge and ability to adapt to clinical treatment and instructional aspect of care to all stages of the life cycle and to various states of health and disease.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year experience
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Act 34
