Description
The Psychologist II provides evaluation and treatment of patients with a variety of neurodevelopmental, behavior and/or mental health concerns. Provides diagnostic interviews/assessments with patients and/or families, conducts appropriate testing as needed, and provides feedback and recommendations to patients, families, and/ or community agencies/providers. May function as a sub-specialist within the unit or provide specialty services for other programs. Coordinates with care teams to plan behavioral health treatment across levels of care.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates highly developed knowledge and skill in the area of differential diagnosis of psychiatric disorders.
- Provides formal teaching and supervision for staff and trainees.
- Performs psychological assessment with accurate diagnostic impressions.
- Works collaboratively with other service lines at UPMC and outside agencies assuring continuity of care with referral sources and other providers. May participate in research efforts by assisting in subject recruitment, conducting research assessments or treatment, as directed by supervisor.
- Maintains current knowledge of relevant literature and empirically validated treatments.
- Provides mentorship to new hires and staff.
- Participates in and supports program development.
- Provides behavioral health services in using an acute and maintenance model. Schedules sufficient volume of patients so that direct service productivity standards are maintained within the department.
- Maintains knowledge of the literature relevant to the relevant patient population.
- Demonstrates ability to maintain accurate and complete records and data collection, performed in a timely fashion.
- Consults and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams regarding patient care and treatment planning.
- Provides support across service lines.
- Provides crisis sessions to support and assist patients experiencing acute distress and/or symptoms, as needed.
- Provides behavioral health services, using empirically validated treatments and interventions.
Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in Psychology (PsyD or PhD) from an accredited institution.
- 5 years of experience in Psychology or related field.
- Post-doctoral fellowship in position specific area (preferred).
- Therapeutic expertise or expertise in an evidence based treatment for a specific patient population.
- Excellent clinical interviewing and assessment/therapy skills to work with patients and families.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Active PA Psychology License
- Psychologist
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
