Description
Performs all required general and preventive maintenance providing the smooth operation of UPMC Northwest and a safe environment for personnel, patients and visitors.
Responsibilities:
- Perform major/minor projects, construction and/or renovations in compliance with regulatory agencies.
- Perform all duties in a manner that makes for a pleasant and safe environment within the facility.
- May provide patient restraint if properly trained and physically capable to do so and only as directed by appropriate nursing personnel.
- The ability to read detailed blue prints.
- Perform all required maintenance and repair on all hospital systems/equipment and buildings and grounds to provide continuous operation and a safe environment for personnel, patients, and visitors.
- Perform all phases of grounds maintenance, including, but not limited to, lawn care and snow removal.
- Perform in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
- May be required to take department call.
Qualifications
Educational/Knowledge Requirements: High school graduate or GED. Vocational technical training preferred. Appropriate training for individual trades with 3 years experience in commercial/institutional construction or maintenance. Skills/Abilities/Equipment: Skills and abilities need to be at the appropriate level to the individuals' trade/s. Trades include: Plumbing, HVACR, Carpentry, Electrician, Painting, Telecommunications, Maintenance Mechanic. Must be a highly motivated professional with the ability to evaluate small projects and address them in a cost effective way.May in the course of their duties be in rooms where medications are stored. No contact with medications is allowed.
