Purpose:
UPMC Hillman Cancer Center is currently hiring for a regular Full-Time Research Coordinator, ONC to support their Oncology Clinical Research Services (CRS) team.
The Research Coordinator, ONC will work a Monday through Friday daylight schedule working as part of the Quality, Education, and Compliance team to support staff in the conduct of oncology trials at the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center.
This Research Coordinator, ONC position will serve to function with a primary focus on auditing with some staff education/training. The role will have both internal QA monitoring and multicenter site monitoring, as well as source data verification. It will assist in onboarding new employees and providing staff continuing education.
The role of the Research Coordinator, ONC is to plan, develop, coordinate and deliver training, continuing education, workflow support, process improvement & quality assurance monitoring to the staff of CRS. The purpose of these collective responsibilities is to enhance the quality, efficiency & productivity of CRS staff performance within clinical research coordination, data management & regulatory duties.
The trainer will provide supplemental training to physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals on efficient coordination of clinical research studies through the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute (UPCI) and UPMC Cancer Centers (UPMC CC) as needed. The Research Coordinator, ONC will serve as a role model of Service Excellence by providing quality training and development services that are responsive to staff needs, proactive in scope and demonstrate working effectiveness.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in development of protocol-specific source documents as well as support Disease center coordination and workload needs as staffing requirements deem necessary.
- Develop, implement &/or recommend continuing education opportunities that support departmental needs, staff requests &/ or monitoring report indications.
- Provide departmental QA support through chart monitoring & outcome assessment to develop applicable ongoing staff training interventions &/or programs.
- Develop, evaluate, maintain &/or update departmental training materials, educational correspondence, skill labs, continuing education resources, orientation plans & competency requirements.
- Provide closely supervised direct hands-on training supported through evidenced-based theory, approved processes, departmental SOP's, skill labs, current resources and competency assessments.
- Provide timely staff performance feedback to the Disease Center & Education/Compliance Clinical Research Manager.
- Perform duties of a coordinator in disease centers when the need arises.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience and training acceptable; including experience in process evaluation, or coordinating multiple aspects of research projects (study participant recruitment, assessment, and data collection,) required.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Computer Skills (Microsoft Office Products) required.
- Demonstrated ability to accurately collect, and store research data required.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written required.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with patients, staff, and investigators as well as maintain patient confidentiality.
- Strong organizational skills required.
- Must be able to work independently, must be able to work a flexible schedule based on study needs.
