Anesthesia Technician II (Any Experience Level)

Description

UPMC Presbyterian is hiring a casual Anesthesia Tech II to support our Anesthesia Support department. You will perform a variety of duties related to and involving the processing and preparing of roomw, equipment, and supplies for our patients undergoing anesthetic procedures. You will also assist in the acquisition, preparation, operation, and maintenance of the equipment and supplies required for the administration of anesthesia, and provide support for surgical cases by assisting in the preparation and maintenance of patient monitoring devices and anesthesia delivery systems before and during anesthesia. you will work as needed, rotating nights/evenings/daylight/weekends/holidays.

Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary from the career ladder based on their individual experience and education. We will consider those with less experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform Phlebotomy as requested
  • Operate equipment used intraoperatively.
  • Trains, mentors, and orients Anesthesia Associates or Anesthesia Students as needed
  • Draw blood samples from existing intravascular lines.
  • Maintain personal growth and development by participating in the in-service and continuing education programs.
  • Maintain statistics as requested to support quality initiatives, reporting responsibilities, focus studies, and operational analysis.
  • Input daily charging information into SMS for hospital technical billing purposes.
  • Perform and evaluate thromboelastrographs (TEG).
  • Operate rapid infusion pump system (RIS).
  • Assist with the evaluation of new equipment and supplies. Adhere to UPMC policy when arranging for an evaluation
  • Performs all responsibilities of Anesthesia Technician
  • Participate in the department equipment management program according to program guidelines.

 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must have one of the following for the Anesthesia Tech II level:
    • 3 years of experience as an anesthesia technician
    • Graduate from an accredited Anesthesia Tech school and 2 years of experience as an anesthesia technician required
    • If ASATT Certified Anesthesia Technician, 2 years of experience as an anesthesia technician OR a Graduate from an accredited Anesthesia Tech school and 1 years of experience as an anesthesia technician required
  • For Anesthesia Tech level, must have HS Diploma/GED and 1 year of patient care experience OR graduation from accredited Anesthesia Tech program.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • ASATT Certified Anesthesia Technician (Cer.A.T.) or ASATT Certified Anesthesia Technologist (Cer.A.T. T.) preferred
