Respiratory Care Technician-UPMC Mercy

Description

UPMC Mercy is hiring a Casual Respiratory Care Tech to support our RT Department at our Pittsburgh, PA location!

Purpose:
Administers diagnostic and treatment modalities of Respiratory Care in designated units observing all necessary precautions during therapy in order to prevent any adverse effects from occurring.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Perform documentation of all respiratory services rendered.
  • Administer Respiratory Care according to physician orders or established protocols.
  • Administer all forms of standard oxygen therapy as ordered by physician.
  • Administer respiratory therapy treatments as prescribed by a physician to include: aerosol therapy, chest physical therapy, incentive spirometry, intermittent positive pressure breathing, facial CPAP, nocturnal studies and suctioning.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of respiratory care to include patient response to therapy and evaluate for treatment effectiveness.
  • Assist with cardiac compression, airway management and artificial ventilation.
  • Administer therapeutic gases such as oxygen as prescribed or according to departmental protocols.
  • Assemble, maintain and evaluate therapy and oxygen devices to ensure equipment is operable and in safe working condition.
  • Assist therapist in maintaining artificial ventilation.
  • Assist with the delivery of respiratory therapy equipment throughout the Hospital to maintain supply.

 

Qualifications

  • Completion of an AMA approved school for Respiratory Care or LPN program required.


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician (CRTT)
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) OR Osteopathic Respiratory Care OR Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCP)
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) OR Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCP)
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
