UPMC is hiring a Systems Analyst Senior to join our UPMC Corporate Quality team. This is a regular, full-time position will primarily work daylight hours, Monday through Friday. In this role you will work both Remote and On-Site with this being a hybrid work environment.

 

Purpose

Under the general direction of the Chief Quality Officer, the Systems Analyst Senior - Quality is responsible for delivering analytical services, defining requirements, developing and designing build and presenting analytic solutions to multidisciplinary teams including but not limited to physicians, administrators, and organizational leaders, summarizing outcomes to support data-based decision making throughout the organization to improve elements such as patient care, clinical outcomes, and operational throughput. Reporting specifications to be provided by requesting audience, and subsequently discussed within interdepartmental team meetings. Various clinical and administrative systems will be used as the data sources, including but not limited to Epic, Cerner and Medipac. Final aggregation and presentation will be completed through various software packages, including SQL Developer, Qlik, Power BI, and Cognos. The Systems Analyst Senior - Quality must be able to work both independently as well as in a team setting.

Responsibilities:

Systems Analyst Senior Quality is responsible for defining and framing quality analytic measures. The Systems Analyst Senior Quality must be able to independently build complex queries using SQL and create data models using SQL. The Systems Analyst Senior Quality would be responsible for ETL data integration using Microsoft SSIS or other integration services tools. The Systems Analyst Senior Quality will utilize Business Intelligence tools (Power BI and Qlikview) to develop reports, dashboards, and apps that will display the data. The Systems Analyst Senior Quality may be required to present analytic solutions to multidisciplinary teams including but not limited to physicians, administrators, and organizational leaders. The Systems Analyst Senior Quality will collaborate with customers to determine reporting specifications and provide recommendations based upon needs. The Systems Analyst Senior Quality will be asked to pull data using numerous clinical systems including but not limited to Epic, Cerner, and Medipac. The Systems Analyst Senior Quality will be responsible for troubleshooting reports and dashboards in Qlikview, Cognos, and Power BI. The Systems Analyst Senior Quality must ensure reporting logic is accurate and sound by comparing analytical output to data within the source systems, as well as through cross validation to base reports. The Systems Analyst Senior Quality must collaborate with the Clinical Analytics department in order to successfully navigate the clinical data warehouse. The Systems Analyst Senior Quality must independently manage all aspects of data assignments in required timeframe (SDLC process). The Systems Analyst Senior Quality will be responsible for analyzing complex reports. The Systems Analyst Senior Quality mentors less experienced team members. The Systems Analyst Senior Quality ensures data governance is involved when necessary.

The Systems Analyst Senior Quality ensure compliance and regulatory guidelines are met. The Systems Analyst Senior Quality maintains confidentiality of sensitive information at all times. The Systems Analyst Senior Quality completes detail-oriented documentation for new and complex processes. The Systems Analyst Senior Quality is responsible for quality and validity of documentation such as developing definition pages for dashboards, etc. The Systems Analyst Senior Quality extracts and document customer/business requirements and needs for use by enterprise architecture and engineering teams (network, system, and software).The Systems Analyst Senior Quality application upgrades and implementation. The Systems Analyst Senior Quality identifies new functionality and/or hardware requirements. The Systems Analyst Senior Quality is responsible for review and validation of functionality. The Systems Analyst Senior Quality creates and/or manage cutover plans including downtime, etc. The Systems Analyst Senior Quality is responsible for evaluating impact and coordinating efforts as necessary across multiple platforms where applicable. The Systems Analyst Senior Quality may be responsible for coordination of tasks and resources related to system integration, validation of testing and implementation. The Systems Analyst Senior Quality is responsible for demonstrating appropriate, clear, concise, and effective written and oral communications in all interactions to build relationships and accomplish day today work and projects. The Systems Analyst Senior Quality successfully completes projects, tasks, and initiatives by embracing a team-first approach. The Systems Analyst Senior Quality works in collaboration with team and offers feedback, where appropriate, to complete individual and group efforts. The Systems Analyst Senior Quality shows the ability to adjust and be flexible to change by adapting approach when necessary.

 

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Information Systems, Healthcare Management or related field and three years of total related experience is required.
  • OR high school diploma and five years of relevant work experience is required.
  • MS Office proficiency required
  • Oracle SQL Developer or Microsoft SQL Server experience required
  • Business Intelligence experience required such as: Power BI development knowledge
  • Qlikview development knowledge Cognos development knowledge SSIS or ETL experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Epic, Medipac, and Cerner is preferred
  • Healthcare experience preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills required
  • Must work well independently and within a team Completes on-going training on-the-job, through courses, self-study, certifications, and/or advanced degrees to maintain and enhance technical and business capabilities.
