Description
Purpose:
Responsible for rendering professional advanced emergency care to ill and injured persons. Will be able to function as the in-charge medic on an ALS vehicle. Is responsible for the safe operation of corporate vehicles. Is responsible for daily operation and activities of the MTS Division during his/her shift. Must also complete annual employee evaluations. In addition to the annual evaluation of the crew chief's assigned crew, he/she will also be required to provide accurate information that can be used in the evaluation of other crews.
Responsibilities:
- Works with management responsible for IS and infrastructure support.
- Works with the ATS Coordinator as regards ATS call scheduling.
- Develop and recommend comprehensive communications policies and procedures to the EMS Resources Manager and Chief Flight Nurse.
- Liaison to a variety of Public Safety entities, hospitals, nursing homes and other customers as regards communications.
- Manages the human resources of the department.
- Develop and implement training programs and continuing education.
- Foster and promote professionalism within MedCom.
- Work with MTS, ATS and Starflight managers in developing efficient communications.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 year EMS pre-hospital experience at the advance life support provider level preferredMust be able to lift, carry, push and/or pull weight up to 100 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions required.
- Must be eligible to receive medical command authorization by the Medical Director, have reliable transportation, and be willing to travel to any base site as assigned.
- Must be able to successfully complete the prescribed orientation program, including classroom
- Must work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities, and specialized equipment.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- EMT-P certification- PA accredited
- PA Emergency Services Vehicle Operator (EMSVO) required
- CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalent required
- International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) or equivalent required
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or equivalent required
Clearances must be dated within 90 days
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Driver's License
- Emergency Vehicle Operator
- Paramedic
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
