Stock Clerk

UPMC Jameson, located in New Castle, PA, is hiring a Stock Clerk to join the Nutritional Services Team! This full-time role will work some holidays and requires flexibility of schedule. Working every other Saturday and Sunday is required. Duties include receiving and placing new stock, maintaining cleanliness within the department, helping other employees locate and get items from shelves, and working on the patient trayline and occasionally the dishroom. Responding to emergencies, including spills, floods, and fire alarms, in a quick and efficient manner is necessary. Candidates who are dependable, have high standards, and are team players are encouraged to apply! 

Receive, check and store supplies and equipment, and disburse on requisitions.


  • Coordinate items for shipment by packaging, mark and prepare bills of loading and/or other documents as required.
  • Assist in yearly inventory taking.
  • Printing: print, bind and pad a variety of forms and other materials for all departments within the hospital and Physicians as well.
  • Restock soda machines.
  • Review and fill various departmental requisitions and deliver material according to the schedules of the departments.
  • Receive all incoming materials, supplies and equipment; compare information on packing slip to verify accuracy noting any corrections; record discrepancies or damages in shipment and notifies supervisor. Store and stack items in the prescribed location within the Purchasing Department, or deliver items to the requisitioning department.
  • Assist the volunteers by transporting all of the paper to be shredded to the appropriate place. Instruct the volunteers on the proper techniques of using the storeroom copier.
  • Perform support function in an effective, accurate, and timely manner.
  • Answer phones and take messages.
  • Perform courier service using the hospital vehicle. Example: the daily banking and post office runs along with picking up supplies for various departments. Perform occasional courier service to other hospitals to borrow medical supplies.
  • Maintain department supplies, equipment and work areas in an orderly fashion. Repair addressograph machines for various departments. Attend all in-services, meetings and seminars as required.



High school diploma or equivalent. 3 months experience required. Ability to receive, comprehend, and carry out instructions. Ability to work safely with equipment, supplies, and materials. Ability to comply with attendance requirements. Ability to comply with Personnel policies.
