Purpose:
Principal trainers work with the training manager and application coordinators to develop and maintain the training program for their application.
Responsibilities:
- Assumes primary responsibility for managing credentialed trainers as assigned.
- Assumes responsibility for managing the training team tasks outlined in the training project plan.
- Attends the outlined Epic education courses and pass certification as required.
- Works with project leadership to determine training policies and requirements.
- Appropriately escalates training issues to project leadership.
- Develops, monitors, and updates a comprehensive training project plan.
- Coordinates and supports all training team tasks.
- Develops comprehensive training and curriculum strategy (time, method of delivery) for all end-user audiences alongside their team of instructional designers for their respective applications.
- Determines training resource requirements (space, trainers).
- Identifies and hires a team of supplemental (credentialed) trainers to assist their instructional designers.
- Builds, tests and maintains the training environment.
- Creates and maintains all training materials.
- Manages training program scheduling, space and technical set-up needs. This includes the development of a comprehensive course catalog for scope of responsibility assigned.
- Monitors and reviews the progress of end-user training within assigned scope of responsibility.
- Ensures all users are trained at an appropriate level and are able to demonstrate proficiency in the new Epic system.
- Administers competency assessments and addresses deficiencies in scores.
- Maintains appropriate records.
- Conducts post-live training tasks and activities.
- Development of video learning as assigned.
- Management of online class enrollment for assigned scope of responsibility.
- Masters both an Epic application and organization?s specific workflows.
- Maintains policy and procedure documentation.
- Maintains the training curriculum and training environment. Delivers ongoing training post-live.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Maintains open, productive communication with management and staff of both internal and external customers.
- Identifies and escalates concerns of pertinent issues to Director or Vice President directly responsible for the specific project or initiative as appropriate.
- Maintains and promotes positive, productive and proactive inter- and intradepartmental relationships to facilitate effective collaboration.
- Provides consultation related to information systems.
- Updates and manages project/activity list.
- Adheres to PinnacleHealth Standards of Behavior.
- Serves as a positive role model for individuals in the department and throughout the organization.
- Sets annual goals for personal and professional growth.
Qualifications
- Capacity to manage multiple competing objectives and to communicate results in clear and unambiguous terms.
- Ability to lead others and clearly communicate the importance of training to all stakeholders in the project.
- Experience with adult education, instructional design and curriculum delivery.
- Strong organizational and coordination skills.
- Ability to develop and adhere to time schedules in order to meet project deadlines and to sequence activities logically.
- Interpersonal skills at a level to function well in a wide range of administrative, management and patient care environments.
- Regular need to work effectively with wide range of very senior to very junior individuals under training project and ad hoc conditions.
- Ability to follow instructions, procedures, and assignments accurately within a set time frame and to function under stressful situations in a calm and rational manner.
- Knowledge of and the ability to use PC-based word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software to create teaching/learning materials and documentation.
- Excellent knowledge of the English grammar and spelling for use in both verbal and written communication.
- Bachelor's degree in specialty or Education preferred.
- Experience with technology and/or healthcare is strongly desired.
- A proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel preferred
- Skill and experience in adult education preferred
- A detailed understanding of workflows and system configuration preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication skills preferred
- Strong organizational skills preferred
- A strong belief in the value of the Epic install preferred
- The ability to write well preferred.
- Clinical or operational experience preferred
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Clearances must be dated within 90 days
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
