UPMC Center for Community Hospitalist Medicine and UPMC South Side Collection and Infusion Center is hiring a full-time Operations Specialist to work in the Oakland and South Side locations.  UPMC Emergency Medicine is seen as a pillar in the system for pilots and high-profile operations. With this, there is great exposure to numerous levels of operations. This position will see high viability from senior level leadership, and will lead to potential advancements through the department.


  • Oversee and coordinate day-to-day functions of operations. Assist in the implementation of new programs and initiatives within Division in conjunction with the Director of Operations/Administrator.
  • Assume daily operations/management of all CCHM APPS
    • Annual Evaluations
    • On-boarding
    • Performance Management
    • Orientation
    • Collaboration with Medical Directors on Performance
  • Assist with the implementation of all new CCHM telemedicine programs
  • Direct Reporting Structure for South Side Registration Staff (4 Total)
  • Assume daily operations/management of South Side Registration Staff
  • Develops and implements key metrics to measure and report on progress of initiatives. Oversee the orientation and supervision of clinical staff.
  • Conduct interviews with candidates and review potential employees with a Human Resources representative. Oversees the performance evaluation process and disciplinary actions of staff.
  • Manages the expense reimbursement process for Division. Manages departmental payroll process.
  • Communicates effectively with Director of Operations/Administrator, and clinical staff, providing regular updates on operations. Identifies trends and process improvement opportunities across departments within operations.
  • Performs cost/benefit analysis Assist with achieving Operations division strategic goals as well as organizational goals
  • Ensure compliance with all UPMC Health System and PSD policies and procedures, including maintaining patient confidentiality. Identify and resolve work problems to ensure quality outcomes.
  • Work with management to ensure operations are aligned with organizational objectives and meet performance and budget objectives. Ensure compliance with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA< PA Department of Health).


  • Associate's Degree in a Business Discipline required; OR 5 years' experience.
  • Three (3) years' experience with knowledge of medical equipment and supplies procurement, and progressive Operations management required.
  • Three (3) years office management experience including 1year in a health care organization preferred.
  • Prior health care experience preferred 
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Health Care Administration, or similar education preferred.
