Description
Purpose:
Operate all areas of the Laboratory in accordance with guidelines and standards established by the advisory and regulatory agencies as they apply to each area of responsibility. Work in cooperation with the Laboratory Medical Director.
Responsibilities:
- Submit annual capital budget and ensure adherence to productivity and cost control standards to meet system objectives.Develop department initiatives, goals and objectives that align with the System mission, vision,values, goals and objectives.
- Ensure high quality continuum of care across entire spectrum of Laboratory services in Somerset county.

- Establish criteria, implement studies and evaluate departmental performance and outcomes in regard to continuous quality improvement control guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies including the College of American Pathologists,Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, Food and Drug Administration, Joint Commission, Department of Health and National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences.
- Oversee all personnel actions; scheduling of staff, annual performance reviews, quality assurance and performance initiatives.
- Serve as departmental liaison with hospital administration, physicians and other hospital departments.
- Ensure high patient satisfaction and positive patient experience across entire spectrum of Laboratory services in Lycoming county.

Qualifications
- Bachelors in Biology, Chemistry, Physical Science or Laboratory related science required.
- Masters Preferred
- 3 years of experience Required
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- MT (ASCP) or comparable Laboratory certification Required
- Act 34
