Description
Purpose:
Perform all aspects of scheduling duties for all radiology modalities. The employee will deal professionally with all customers including patients, families, patient units, hospital personnel, physicians, radiologists, referring physicians, and office personnel, etc.
Responsibilities:
- Provide rotational Ultrasound duties to include greeting patients, answering additional phone lines, and obtaining prescriptions for procedures when needed.
- Adhere to scheduling guidelines for gathering required exam information and conveying restrictions.
- Troubleshoot scheduling complaints and communicate all issues to the supervisor.
- Gather and record demographic, financial, and insurance information on each patient during the initial intake interview which may take place either in person or over the phone.
- Enter data into the computer and processes requisitions to confirm data entry.
- Operate multi-line phone system and ACD telephone software. Follow scripted radiology format accurately and completely.
- Enter information into the RIS system. Complete appropriate forms. Follow up on any incomplete or inaccessible information to assure a completed record.
- Document patient demographics accurately.
- Review all imaging resources on a daily basis for open slots and potential scheduling errors.
- Enter prescriptions into the document scanner.
- Participate in the training of new scheduling staff.
- Schedule exams accurately, both automatically and manually, for all radiology modalities.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 3-5 years related work experience in a medical setting and/or a current Radiology Scheduler with knowledge of Imagecast, MS Word, MS Excel, and EOIC training preferred.
- Medical Terminology preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written communication skills.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work with physicians, management, and staff personnel efficiently and effectively in a professional manner.
- Ability to work independently and take minimal directions.
- Tact, patience, and understanding are required.
- As customer service is a priority in this position, training and certification as a Patient Ambassador are required prior to, or during the initial six-month review period.
