Description
Purpose:
With the Vice President, Operations, and Medical Leadership, provides overall administrative oversight, as well as program and strategy development for the urology services. Responsible for strategic, fiscal, and operational planning and execution for urology services. Provides leadership and direction to staff, promotes services to physicians and community, works closely with administration, nursing, and Medical Group leadership to assure best practice implementation and high-quality care delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Develops comprehensive, innovative, realistic goals and objectives that support System and Medical Group strategic plans. Establishes key primary and secondary demographic market areas for focus, as well as identifies areas for growth. Identifies new programs for development to cultivate physician business and increase physician referrals and market share.
- Assures sound fiscal operations. Develops business, operational, capital and financial plans and monitors progress toward these goals. Develops capital needs analyses. Serves as primary liaison to urology providers to identify opportunities for program development and resolution of concerns.
- With the Vice President, Operations, Medical Leadership, obtains and analyzes physician report card data. Identifies areas of opportunity and develops and monitors action plans to address concerns.
- Collaborates and develops positive working relationships with providers, support services, clinical departments, and referral agencies to ensure open communication and collaborative problem solving.
- Demonstrates commitment to the development and implementation of innovative strategies to recruit and retain qualified personnel.
- Monitors productivity and recommends adjustments in staffing to maximize organizational performance.
- Develops affiliations with other providers in the market to enhance UPMC's service delivery and organizational performance.
- Develops and implements professional and public education programs.
- Responds to requests for financial, operational, and administrative data and analysis.
- Ensures compliance with outside regulators, hospital, and departmental policies; oversees review and/or revisions to policies relevant to area of operation.
- Participates in Urology committees, task forces, conferences, community events, etc. Maintains current with relevant regulatory/policy, specialty-specific, technical, and administrative information.
- Effectively performs human resources-related tasks including hiring, counseling, promoting and disciplining staff as appropriate. Demonstrates commitment to the development and implementation of innovative strategies to recruit and retain quality personnel. Completes performance evaluations in a fair and timely manner. Provides management development for employees to improve job performance and assist in lateral and upward mobility. Identifies and defines developmental needs of employees and plan methods for implementation of educational programs. Assists employees in establishing appropriate self-development objectives.
- Encourages employee attendance in professionally relevant internal and external programs. Periodically, reviews roles and responsibilities of employees to keep current with goals, policies, departmental, regulatory, and performance objectives.
- Interacts with physicians, physician extenders and all fellow employees in a courteous and professional manner.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in health care, business or related field.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of management techniques, financial management, interpersonal relationship skills and group dynamics.
- Demonstrated skill in planning, implementing, and evaluating programs and services; considerable skill in communication with physicians, staff, other professionals, patients and their families; good skill managing professional staff; good skill in developing evaluation tools and techniques to assess progress.
- Five to ten years of progressive administrative experience in a hospital or healthcare environment preferred.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
All clearances must be dated within 90 days of hire
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
