Description
Reports to the Risk Control Manager. Delivers risk control services to clients in assigned territory. Provides technical advice and account information to underwriting business partners for risk assessment and analysis. Works on low to moderate complexity jobs with premium usually under $250,000 and low to moderate workers' compensation exposures. Autonomous, but still receives oversight and report review from managers.
Preferences:
- Workers’ compensation experience with a focus on preventing workplace injuries.
- Proficient in Microsoft Platforms especially Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
This position can be Remote (Pennsylvania) or in USX/Pittsburgh.. The hours would be 7AM-330PM or 730AM – 4PM.
Responsibilities:
- Apply analytical skills to complete claims review.
- Conduct research for underwriters or clients on class of business, operations, OSHA issues, or any other technical subject requiring similar analysis.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with assigned underwriting and claims teams, the broker/agent community, other risk control staff, and with clients.
- Maintain timely, relevant communications with the risk control manager.
- Consult with clients on ways to control hazards in order to reduce or prevent injuries. Regularly influence clients to implement recommendations.
- Analyzes loss information to identify causes and develop recommendations.
- Conduct loss control surveys/safety program analysis at client locations to determine potential hazards and risk factors to be considered in underwriting/risk selection.
- Maintain current knowledge of regulatory environment and emerging safety issues.
- Serve as resource to underwriting and claims departments.
- Write technically detailed reports that provide a clear assessment of risk and clearly articulate recommendations.
- Analyze loss trends, recognize opportunities to provide risk control products and/or services which can help reduce losses.
Qualifications
- BA/BS Occupational Safety and Health, Physical Science, or Risk Management earned from an accredited program from an accredited college or university required.
- (Relevant experience in Field Loss Control will be considered in lieu of degree)
- Two (2) years of field loss control or increasing levels of responsibility in related operations.
- High level of skill and competency in Microsoft Office Suite software.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Associate in Loss Control Management (ALCM), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), and/or Graduate Safety Professional (GSP)/Associate Safety Professional (ASP)/Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Preferred.
