UPMC McKeesport is hiring a regular, full-time Invasive Cardiac Tech to mainly work a daylight shift Monday thru Friday.  This position will also have on-call responsibility for evenings, weekends and holidays.

Purpose:
Performs imaging procedures at an advanced level not requiring constant supervision. Competently performs a variety of advanced technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes. Rotates between two or more specialties.

Responsibilities:

  • Completes yearly project designed for the service line and or for implementation at the system level, content agreed upon with management. Content areas include but not limited to: evidence based practice change; service line workgroup leadership; quality improvement; research.
  • Performs all job responsibilities of an Invasive Cardiovascular Technologist II
  • Demonstrates a willingness to learn new skills as well as educate others in their areas of expertise. Serves as a resource for new hires and students
  • Works as team member within assigned area to expedite patient care efficiently by demonstrating excellent communication and customer service skills. Effectively communicates with physicians, co-workers, managers, and patients in assigned sites and/or departments
  • Demonstrate mastery of all equipment utilized for procedures
  • Active participation in quality improvement activities for department as well as system level workgroups
  • Demonstrates the ability to function independently, and perform services at other facilities including on call responsibility
  • Active role in inventory management as assigned. Assures that annual lead apron testing is completed

 

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved School of Radiologic Technology (RT-R) or Invasive Cardiovascular Technology (RCIS) required.
  • 2 years of experience in invasive cardiology, vascular and/or electrophysiology.
  • Must hold registry in each specialty.
  • Must have obtained a performance review rating of strong/solid/good on most recent performance review to be eligible for promotion.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Radiologic Technologist (RT-R). RT-R is required to have CV certification.  Cath Lab Technologist will have RCIS certification. EP Technologist will have RCES certification.Active certification in second specialty is required.
  • CPR and ACLS certification is required.
  • ACLS required within 6 months of hire.
  • ARRT Certificate
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Act 34
  • OAPSA
