Cardiology Systems Coordinator

Coordinates, implements and monitors cardiac & vascular business activities. Educates and provides updates to physicians, staff and supervisor on billing, coding and procedure changes.



  • Provides support to data collectors and provides direction, guidance and input in the clinical extraction of data.
  • Collects, compiles, evaluates and reports on patients to Director as requested.
  • Audits the appropriate billing of procedures and supplies in the Invasive Cardiology, Electrophysicology, Hybrid OR and Interventional Radiology Deaprtments at all locations.
  • Maintains regular maintenance and updating of the charge master.
  • Implements recommendations and changes to all requests of adding and changing charges in the Invasive Cardiology, Electrophysicology, Hybrid OR and Interventional Radiology departments at all locations.
  • Responsible for regulating guidelines set by hospital payors.
  • Performs quarterly reviews of the charge master for accuracy of cardiology and peripheral procedures.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert in proper coding of procedures as regulatory changes are provided by government agencies.
  • Serves as subject matter expert in health information and documentation system.
  • Responsible for discharge follow-up calls on all patients discharged for the Cardiac patients at all locations.
  • Responsible for calling Interventional Radiology patients and reviewing procedural instructions for the next day and reviewing with patients what to expect. In addition, reviews with patient their current medications and health history and consultation form.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



  • High school diploma or equivalent thereof. 3-5 years of previous business experience.
  • Knowledge base of all aspects of cardiac business unit to communicate effectively with other team members and discipline.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology concepts of diseases.
  • Knowledge of MS Office to include Work, Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience with hospital based software systems to include relevant financial billing system and GE Centricity Systems, and experience in maintaining a clinical database.
  • Ability to work independently, efficiently, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize in meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrates behavior that facilitates the operation of the Cardiovascular Service Line.
  • Excellent customer services.
  • Demonstrates awareness of own behavior and its effect on departments productivity and effectiveness.
  • Must have above average organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have the ability to work with diverse personalities by exhibiting a tactful, professional and mature attitude.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in medical related field.
  • Cardiac experience preferred.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate new coding and billing guidelines and the ability to teach this to physicians, physician office staff and hospital personnel.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Clearances must be dated within 90 days

  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
