Description
Purpose:
The Clerk handles the sale of merchandise to the consumer. The Clerk is responsible for the general upkeep of the Shop and performs all duties as required to ensure the daily operations are handled in an efficient and effective manner.
Responsibilities:
- Operate cash register and Lottery machine, opens and closes Shop.
- Inform Manager or Clerk II when stock items or supplies are low in need of re-ordering.
- Answer any incoming phone calls and direct calls appropriately.
- Maintain shop (i.e. dusting, cleaning, rubbish removal) to ensure a safe and aesthetic environment.
- Conform to The Basics of Service Excellence as described in the hospital's orientation program.
- Receive incoming merchandise, checks invoices unpacks, and assist with pricing as directed by Manager or Clerk II.
- Assist customers with gift/flower suggestions and refer any customer complaints to the Manager of Clerk II.
- Count change bank, Lottery bank, and reconciles Lottery receipts at end of the day when closing.
- Stock candy, magazines, and merchandise on a daily basis as necessary.
- Work weekends, evenings, or holidays as needed.
- Maintain quality control of outgoing merchandise.
- As the public face for LHAS, the Gift Shop Clerk is expected to be continuously updating their knowledge of the company's products, services, and policies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of one year's experience in retail sales, or a combination of education and experience is required.
