Description

Purpose:
Responsible for handing incoming paper mail and electronic correspondence related to patient accounts. Office Assistant will sort mail to route to appropriate departments. Link applicable mail and correspondence to patient accounts via an electronic scanning system.

Responsibilities:

  • Sort incoming mail by department and type and route to appropriate department via inter-office or email.
  • Locate patient accounts in our financial management system to properly link incoming mail to medical accounts. 
  • Complies with all UPMC Health System policies and procedures.Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.
  • Process mailing requests for the Billing and Collections team to send out required letters and documentation for patients and insurances.
  • Handle user website access requests for all department users.
  • *Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
  • *Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • 1 year work experience, preferably in a medical office setting.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Word processing and computer experience preferred.


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Clearances must be dated within 90 days

  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
