Description
Purpose:
Assists the Fitness Center Coordinator in planning, coordinating, and instructing programs involved with the Fitness Center and components of the wellness program. This position is 8a-4:30p daylight and every other holiday.
Responsibilities:
- Performs other related duties as required by the Fitness Center Coordinator.
- Perform individual fitness evaluations on residents.
- Participates in planning and developing strategies to enhance the six components of wellness for our residents.
- Teach proper equipment usage, benefits of exercise, and proper body mechanics.
- Abides by established policies of the facility.
- Properly maintain exercise equipment and supplies.
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Lead individuals and groups in relevant exercise routines.
Qualifications
- Minimum fourth year college student or graduate student in exercise science, gerontology or other related course of study.
- Prefer some experience in exercise and wellness for the older adult.
- The individual should have the knowledge and skills to develop and execute an exercise program for the older adult.
- Should be skilled at providing quality interventions to meet the physical needs and abilities of the residents.
- Has the knowledge to execute interventions to achieve total wellness for interested residents with a variety of diagnose and abilities.
- Must exhibit the ability to give instructions to others and be encouraging.
- Must have an understanding of all levels of older adults physical functioning and have an enthusiastic approach toward exercise and wellness.
