UPMC Altoona is hiring a casual Registered Nurse to help support the Emergency Department! Set pay rate for this position is $30.00/hour*
UPMC Altoona's Emergency Department offers comprehensive care for minor and major injuries, illnesses, and serious traumas — 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our Emergency Department is a 51 bed facility (4 trauma bays included) as we are a Level 2 trauma center. Our specially trained experts provide emergency treatments and access to a wide variety of care for patients experiencing life-threatening: trauma, heart attack, and stroke along with utilizing the UPMC Stroke Telemedicine Program.
Our Registered Nurses provide direct and indirect care to patients utilizing the nursing process, leadership for the nursing team and contribute to the education of a variety of members of the staff and students.
Responsibilities:
- Document/records appropriate information required in performance of responsibilities in relation to the job description.
- General nursing ability.
- Demonstrates knowledge and ability to adapt to clinical treatment and instructional aspect of care to all stages of the life cycle and to various states of health and disease.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year experience
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
- Must obtain one of these eight certifications within two years of hire/transfer:
- Acute/Critical Care RN (CCRN) OR Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses OR Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) OR Certified Flight Nurse OR Certified Neuroscience Registered Nurse OR Certified Progressive Care Nurse OR Emergency Nursing Pediatric OR Trauma Certified Registered Nurse
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- National Institute of Health Stroke Scale Certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance
