UPMC Wellsboro is hiring a full-time Paramedic to support our emergency department. This position will work rotating 12-hour shifts, every other weekend and a holiday rotation. Qualified Paramedics are eligible for a $7,000 sign-on bonus! A two-year work commitment is required.
Purpose:
Monitor, analyze, and interpret cardiac rhythms for all telemetry monitored patients in the Emergency Department. Answer medical command phone calls and assist with life-threatening situations to stabilize patients and provide care.
Responsibilities:
- Consults and coordinates with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.
- Maintains accurate and detailed records/reports.
- Performs duties related to medical command including responding to requests from prehospital personnel for radio or telephone medical guidance or assistance and relaying critical information to the provider and/or clinical supervisor on duty.
- Triages appropriately under stressful circumstances.
- Supports the daily operation of the department through the participation in the delivery of patient care within the Emergency Department.
- Performs basic unit maintenance responsibilities and emergency equipment checks as assigned.
- Commit to high-quality, safe work; encourage others to have similar standards. Identify processes/systems that could lead to inefficient practices, unsafe conditions, errors, or adverse events. Avoid shortcuts to ensure quality and safety measures are not circumvented. Encourage patient and family involvement in processes involving patient safety. Understand that patient safety is everyone's responsibility. Assume responsibility for personal education and performance related to patient safety; report unsafe conditions or events immediately; speak up in a non-confrontational and educational manner when seeing a safety breech; develop or participate in a project or action plan to reduce risk or mitigate harm for patients, as appropriate.
- Identifies all centralized telemetry monitored patient's rhythms, assessing for abnormal and normal rhythms.
- Activates emergency procedures based on changes in patient rhythm.

Qualifications
One year pre-hospital EMS experience at the advanced life support provider level preferred.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Paramedic
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
