Purpose:
We are hiring a Residential Assistant to support UPMC - Behavioral Health of the Alleghenies at Tartaglio Personal Care Home. The Residential Assistant will manage and implement the day-to-day operations of the personal care home in accordance with Agency policies and procedures. This will be done in a manner consistent with efficiency, cost effectiveness and regulatory compliance.
The shift for this position is 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. The incumbent will also work every other weekend.
Responsibilities:
- Provide crisis management to residents.- Assess crisis situation and provide support. - Monitor and evaluate residents for potential problems. - Record crisis incidents on a problem log: Medical, Psychiatric, Facility
- Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement activities.
- Engage residents in individual and group therapeutic activities.
- Manage and implement day-to-day operations of the personal care home.- Provide for the personal care, nutrition and leisure needs of residents. - Orient residents to rules of the facility. - Intervene in resident conflicts for the purpose of problem resolution. - Maintain resident records as required by agency policy.
- Adhere to Agency and professionally acceptable standards, policies and procedures.
- Participate in training necessary to fulfill job duties.
- Provide supportive counseling to residents.
- Act as liaison between residents, the community, and other social service agencies, including close contacts with mental health case managers and treatment providers.
- Maintain and protect patient, client and Agency confidentiality.
- Represent and participate in Agency professional and community activities as requested.
- Maintain suitable, safe and adequate living standards within the facility in accordance with agency policies and procedures and PA Personal Care Home regulations.
- Promote resident skill development in cooperation with the client's treatment team.
- Demonstrate support of Agency mission and philosophy in delivery of services.
- Work to achieve and maintain quality and customer satisfaction in the delivery of services to internal/external customers.
- Promote personal and co-worker safety during work duties.
Qualifications
- High School diploma/GED required.
- Nurse's aide training and/or 6 months related work experience preferred.
- Experience working in mental health field preferred.
- Applicants must be 21 years or older due to position restrictions.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR and first aid certification within 30 days of employment.CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)
- Act 34
