Description
UPMC Health Plan is hiring a team of full-time Payment Optimization Support Technicians to support the Payment Integrity Unit. This position will be responsible for the retrieval and distribution of medical record information needed for patient care, insurance, and legal purposes. This is a Monday- Friday daylight role and is based out of Erie, PA. This is a hybrid role, with some remote/work-from-home privileges, as well as some travel to the office for trainings, meetings, department needs, etc.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in training programs as available/requested.
- Assist other departments during periods of backlogs.
- Openly participate in team meetings, provide ideas and suggestions to ensure client satisfaction, and promote teamwork.
- Maintain employee/insured confidentiality.
- Work overtime as required per business need.
- Identify areas of concern that may compromise client satisfaction.
- Extract medical records from various systems.
- Performs quality checks on records before sending.
- Merge Extracted files to be submitted to HMS.
- Effectively prioritize and complete all assigned tasks.
- Release patient health information appropriately to requestors according to State and Federal regulations as well as UPMC and Insurance Services Division (ISD).
Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- Medical terminology and/or previous medical record experience preferred.
- Competent in MS Office and strong PC skills preferred.
- Ability to demonstrate organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Maintain designated production and quality standards required.
- General knowledge HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act).
