Boiler Operator - Casual Status
Day/Evening shift
Purpose:
Maintains boilers, boiler auxiliaries, chillers, chiller auxiliaries and other plant equipment; maintains equipment in Surgery Center and Station Medical Center (SMC) boiler room to include cleaning, preventative maintenance and new installation.
Responsibilities:
- Could be scheduled for off shifts and rotation as needed. Available for on call.
- Maintains good relations with other members of the crew, other crews, and all other departments so that work is performed in a harmonious manner.
- Complies with established occupational exposure policies.
- Overall cleanliness of central plant building, electric service building, and mechanical spaces throughout the facility.
- Assists in snow removal duties.
- Complies with all safety codes whether Federal, State, or local; maintains a safe work environment.
- Responsible for proper operation and maintenance of central plant systems and associated equipment including but not limited to all processes needed to operate and maintain chiller operation.
- Will be expected to perform any and all other duties related to facility maintenance as deemed necessary by management that is in the best interest of the hospital, its patients, staff, and visitors.
- All processes needed to operate and maintain chillers including but not limited to cooling towers, pumps, water chemistry, and building automation system. 5
- Responsible for the completion of all service work order assignments in a timely fashion.
- Responsible for proper operation and maintenance of central plant systems and associated equipment including but not limited to all processes needed to operate and maintain high pressure boilers including but not limited to deaerator, feedwater system, softeners, boiler chemistry, burner tuning, annual cleaning and inspection process.
Qualifications
Education and Formal Training Required: High school graduate or equivalent, preferably a graduate from a vocational school; valid PA driver's license required. Stationary engineer license or equivalent experience in operation of boilers or power plants. Experience Required: Must have knowledge in boiler or power plant operation and repair; three years' experience in boiler operations with an organization such as the U. S. Military, another hospital, school district, public utility company, etc.; solid mechanical background
