Under general direction of the department supervisor, coordinate with equipment planners and project managers on multiple projects to ensure coordinated procurement, delivery and installation of medical equipment. Work closely with outside vendors, Biotronics, ISD, and supply chain management to ensure that equipment standards and specifications are accurately quoted, purchased, delivered and installed on capital projects.


  • Work with the project management team and users to determine the equipment to be ordered for specific projects. This includes the type of beds, monitoring systems, equipment booms, special treatment lighting, etc. Review the equipment list with the responsible department representative to achieve sign-off.
  • Obtain equipment quotes and advise the project managers. Manage the acquisition, delivery, and installation of equipment for projects. Attend the construction meetings to understand the timeline and orders equipment to meet timelines.
  • Communicate with Supply Chain Management regarding new types of equipment and coordinate trials of new equipment with the clinical user. Order all medical equipment for the projects and coordinate with the project management team to be certain that the equipment is installed correctly and in a timely fashion.
  • Communicate with UPMC Biotronics department to recycle medical equipment within the UPMC system as appropriate. Provide consultation to other UPMC hospitals as appropriate.
  • Collaborates with construction management personnel on Equipment Planning in the following manner: 
    • Coordination with supply chain management personnel, outside vendors, contractors and design professionals to assure comprehensive satisfaction of the end user for all projects assigned. 
    • Coordinates aspects of the projects' group 1, group 2, and group 3 equipment including scheduling and installation services. 
    • Works from and advises on the project schedule related to equipment deliveries with the Project Manager.
  • Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



  • Associates degree OR 2 years of clinical engineering, supply chain or related experience OR 5 years of business-related experience.
  • Design or construction experience preferred
  • Comfortable using databases and spreadsheets
  • Self-started and detail oriented 

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Driver's License
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
