Description
Purpose:
Responsible for the safe operation of corporate vehicles and rendering basic emergency care to ill and injured persons in accordance with N.Y.S Basic EMT Protocol.
Responsibilities:
- Assures restocking of basic supplies and equipment.
- Responds to assigned calls in a timely fashion.
- Safely wheel stretcher bound patients as necessary
- Complete billing forms and PCR?s in a timely fashion.
- Is able to function at scenes appropriately as a member of a team.
- Operate assigned vehicle safely ? driving, parking, emergency mode.
- Provide treatment at BLS level according to state protocol.
- Uses proper radio etiquette and procedures.
- Ensure safety of vehicle occupants with proper restraints.
- Proactively works to improve services and results and takes initiative to identify opportunities for improvement and implements accordingly.Demonstrates and delivers quality customer service to internal and external customers, always keeping patient/customer satisfaction a priority.Provides patient care and/or generates work results that are thorough, accurate, orderly and value-added consistent with hospital policies and procedures.Anticipates internal and/or external customer needs and facilitates meeting those needs.
- Check vehicle per part 800 standards beginning each shift.
- Ensure cleanliness of quarters, vehicle and patient equipment.
- Functions appropriately in charge of patient care for those not requiring ALS.
Qualifications
- Ability to render professional basic emergency care in accordance with N.Y.S basic protocol standards.
- Must attend 25 hours of EMS related continuing education per year.
- Must maintain credential skills as outlined in the Standard Operating Guidelines.
- Work Contact Group: Frequent contact with physicians, EMS/Fire Personnel (paid or volunteer), police agencies, aeromedical personnel, MTS division staff, management staff, patients and families.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Must have and maintain current certifications in:
- New York State Department of Health EMT-Basic and
- CPR for the professional rescuer (AHA or equivalent)
- Must renew CPR Credentials biannually.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license, which is also acceptable to the companies insurance carrier.
- ICS-100, NIMS700, HAZMAT Awareness (Post 9/11/01), NYS Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Driver's License
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
