Description
Purpose:
Responsible for the safe operation of corporation wheelchair van/vehicles, by using care and skill in driving techniques to avoid sudden motion that would be detrimental to passengers. Maintain appropriate driving and CDL credentials. Maintain driving license acceptable to the company insurance carrier.
Responsibilities:
- Complete DOT log book per regulations.
- Check vehicle per DOT standards beginning each shift.
- Reports vehicle problems or defects to supervisor.
- Complete billing forms and issue receipts for payment as necessary.
- Operate assigned vehicle safely ? driving, parking, backing, and no turning right on red.
- Respond to and complete assigned calls in a timely fashion.
- Ensure safety of vehicle occupants with proper restraints.
- Ensure cleanliness of vehicle, inside and out.
- Proactively works to improve services and results and takes initiative to identify opportunities for improvement and implements accordingly.Demonstrates and delivers quality customer service to internal and external customers, always keeping patient/customer satisfaction a priority.Provides patient care and/or generates work results that are thorough, accurate, orderly and value-added consistent with hospital policies and procedures.Anticipates internal and/or external customer needs and facilitates meeting those needs.
- Accepts responsibility for one?s own behavior and actions.Works independently without reminders regarding timeliness and quality of work. Meets commitments, goals and deadlines and drives work/projects forward; follows up as needed.Willingly seeks and/or accepts additional responsibility and assignments.
- Safely wheel chair bound patients as appropriate.
Qualifications
- Must maintain NYS 19A education and testing requirements and random drug and alcohol testing for level of CDL.
- Ability to render professional driving and customer service.
- Frequent contact with patients, families, physician office staff, hospital staff and fellow employees.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Must have at minimum a valid CDL class `C' driver's license with Passenger Endorsement within 30 days of hire.
