Across UPMC, our guiding principle is to always prioritize the safety of our employees, patients, and members. UPMC believes that vaccination is important, helps protect all, and advocates that everyone who can be vaccinated should be vaccinated.

UPMC complies with all governmental requirements related to local, state, and federal COVID-19 vaccination for employment. The Jan. 13 Supreme Court of the United States decision that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate will move forward requires UPMC to ensure employees either get vaccinated or receive a requested medical or religious exemption.

Administrative Supervisor

Description

Purpose:
Under general direction, supervises administrative and/or clerical employees and provides varied administrative support of a complex and technical nature to single or multiple department(s) or a division. Customarily and regularly directs the work of two or more other employees (2.0 FTEs or more `reports to in PeopleSoft); and has authority to hire or fire employees or whose suggestions and recommendations as to hiring, firing, advancement, promotion or other change of status of employees are given particular weight.

Responsibilities:

 

  • - Performs all responsibilities of an Administrative Assistant Sr- Plans conferences for department and department head- Develops and sends correspondence on behalf of department and department head (i.e., draft and send meeting minutes, draft and send meeting events)- Develops reports for executive or department- Analyzes complex information requests and determines complex trends- Provides input to presentations and other department/supervisor work (i.e., supervisor provides general thought and ee will draft more material based on initial ideas)- Reviews administrative procedures and operating practices and makes recommendations to increase efficiency.
  • - Under general direction directs the work of two or more employees and provides administrative support of a complex and technical nature to single or multiple department or division (i.e., organizes, plans, and prioritizes work of others, develops and builds teams to accomplish project assignments)- Has authority to hire or fire employees or whose suggestions and recommendations as to hiring, firing, advancement, promotion or other change of status of other employees are given particular weight.- Assists in recruiting, hiring, and training of employees- Responsible for evaluating the performance of employees

 

Qualifications

The Jan. 13 Supreme Court of the United States decision that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate will move forward requires UPMC to ensure individuals either get vaccinated or receive a requested medical or religious exemption by Jan. 27. For individuals who choose an mRNA vaccine, a second dose of Pfizer or Moderna must be received by Monday, Feb. 28, or within the designated timeframe after your first dose is received. 

While the deadlines have passed, it’s not too late to get your first shot or request a medical or religious exemption. We each play a part in reaching 100% in our COVID-19 vaccination efforts.

High school diploma or equivalent5 years experience in an increasingly responsible administrative support role- Ability to perform advanced functions in word processing, electronic mail/calendar, spreadsheet, presentation and database software - Ability to use applicable MS Suite products- Advanced knowledge of business processes and procedures- Working knowledge of accounting and financial principles and functions- Ability to analyze data- Ability to use discretion and independent judgment
