Job Description/Summary/Objectives: University of Pittsburgh Physicians seeks a Geriatrician to provide comprehensive clinical care to elderly patients with diseases or injuries of the human internal organ system; treat medical problems and chronic illnesses to improve patients’ functioning and quality of life; order diagnostic tests, interpret the results, and prescribe appropriate interventions, therapies, medications, and other treatment modalities; collect, record, and maintain details of the patients’ histories, physical examinations, diagnostic test results, assessments, management plans, and treatment outcomes; establish treatment and preventative health plans for elderly patients and refer patients to specialty physicians, as appropriate; provide Geriatric Medicine consults on the Inpatient Trauma service.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive clinical care to elderly patients with diseases or injuries of the human internal organ system;
- Treat medical problems and chronic illnesses to improve patients’ functioning and quality of life;
- Order diagnostic tests, interpret the results, and prescribe appropriate interventions, therapies, medications, and other treatment modalities;
- Collect, record, and maintain details of the patients’ histories, physical examinations, diagnostic test results, assessments, management plans, and treatment outcomes;
- Establish treatment and preventative health plans for elderly patients and refer patients to specialty physicians, as appropriate;
- Provide Geriatric Medicine consults on the Inpatient Trauma service.
Qualifications
- Must have a Medical degree or equivalent;
- Must have completed a residency in Internal Medicine;
- Must have completed a fellowship in Geriatric Medicine;
- Must be Board certified or board eligible for certification in Geriatric Medicine;
- Must have a valid PA medical license and DEA license.
