Description
Purpose:
To serve as Research Assistant and conduct baseline and follow-up assessments and neuroimaging tasks for the multi-site study in adolescents (site PI: Rasim S Diler, MD): “Automated Risk Assessment for School Violence Prevention”. The Research Assistant will be trained on inclusion/exclusion criteria and assessment instruments/interviews. Duties will include: scheduling interviews, administering assessments, follow up assessments, coordination with school, and performing other research-related duties as assigned.
This position is grant funded.
Responsibilities:
- Screen participants (child/parent) using phone and in-person measures.
- Schedule participants’ assessments at appropriate time intervals that can include evening or weekends shifts.
- Being able to work inpatient, outpatient, and school-based settings to conduct and record interviews.
- Complete the formal diagnostic and assessment interviews required at all phases of the study including initial evaluation of child/adolescent subject and parent and follow-up assessments of all subjects (in the lab or travel at participant’s home or school).
- Administer research protocol including computer tasks, mood ratings, and self-report measures.
- Provide support to data management staff – e.g., storing of data, data entry, data cleaning and data integrity checks.
- Assist Investigators, Study Coordinator, and Post Docs with data analysis for papers/presentations by performing some aspects as needed.
- Provide administrative support for the projects - e.g. retrieving/entering articles into reference system/e-platform, copying, filing, etc.
- Participate in participant recruitment and consent procedures over the phone or in person (in the hospital or at participants’ home or school).
- Attends and participates in all project-related meetings, including regular staff meetings, diagnostic conferences, and research team meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned and in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
- The ability to work independently and in a team structure and to effectively prioritize and complete tasks.
- To ensure that all interviews, assessments, and documentation are of the highest quality and legibility, and are completed in a timely fashion.
- High rate of success in contact and completion of interviews.
- Maintains diagnostic consistency at 80% agreement in rating interviews for reliability.
- Responsible for prompt identification of subjects for possible interventions based on research assessment results.
- Ability to complete duties effectively in a timely fashion with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to respond promptly to work requests as designated by supervisors.
- Flexibility in schedule to meet research deadlines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field, or current enrollment, with some experience in research environment.
- Experience in the area of Public Health, Psychology, Applied Research or Behavioral Health is preferred.
- 6-12 months of experience in mental health environment (clinical or research) is strongly preferred.
- Experience working with adolescents is strongly preferred.
- Experience administering and scoring standard research assessments is strongly preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills, critical thinking/analytical skills, and the ability to make independent decisions is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and the ability to learn various software packages as needed.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Act 34 with renewal
