Description
UPMC Tri Rivers Musculoskeletal Center is hiring full-time administrative authorization support for specialty testing, medication and procedures at our Wexford Administrative office location. In this position, you will work Monday-Friday during daylight hours, performing authorizations on behalf of our patients with subsequent scheduling of testing, in office procedures and medication therapies.
Responsibilities:
- Contacts patients regarding authorization and testing and follow-up appointments.
- Addresses patient messages using proper protocol to conclusion.
- Works in conjunction with additional Specialty Authorization Team members to assure consistent coverage for patients in regards to authorizing all categories of testing, procedure and medication therapies.
- Schedules patient testing with specific facilities utilizing hospital/facility protocols and processes.
- Obtains appropriate insurance authorizations for MRI/CT testing for all insurance carriers.
- Performs other duties as needed and directed by management, team leader or physician.
- Observes HIPAA and other privacy practices.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED.
- Minimum one year general clerical and computer experience.
- Experience in a health care setting preferred.
- Knowledge of operating system, scheduling and patient information preferred.
- Knowledge of electronic medical records systems preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and office procedures preferred.
- Knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations.
- Skill in utilizing all above systems to achieve essential functions.
- Skill in verbal and written communications.

- Act 34
