Tri Rivers Multispecialty Practice is hiring a Regular Full-Time Licensed Practical Nurse, OP (Outpatient LPN) for our Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Services. This position will work primarily with hand and upper extremity surgical Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers.

This position will work four 10 hour shifts per week from Monday to Friday between 7:00am and 5:00pm with varying additional day off during the week. Travel between Butler and Cranberry/Mars location required. Travel to Slippery Rock and McCandless satellite office as needed for coverage. Free onsite parking at all locations!

Tri Rivers is fast paced, high patient volume, multispecialty practice with focus in musculoskeletal care - Orthopedics, Sports Medicine, Physical Medicine and Rehab, and Rheumatology Services.  We are located in six offices and support over 40 providers. We have new physicians joining our practice and we are looking for bright, skilled, and talented employees to join our exceptional team. Specifically, candidates with great organization, prioritizing, and critical thinking skills. Being a team player is key in our department but the ability to work independently in our physician clinics is just as important.  An employee with excellent patient care and professional skills to work closely with a team of nurses, physicians, and advanced practice providers. 

Specific Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Performs basic triage. Assists providers in back office clinical duties including rooming patients, taking vitals and complete patient histories.
  • Assists with minor in office procedures; including but not limited to injections, ultrasound guided injections performed by physicians, pin pulling, fracture reductions, and wound care.
  • Provides complete documentation in Epic Care, orders are complete and accurate per provider’s instructions.
  • Provides accurate documentation to radiology staff to ensure appropriate x-rays are completed.
  • Performs a variety of orthopedic related activities including applying and removing dressings, casts and splints and removing sutures and staples. Knowledge of specialized casting and bracing. Distributes durable medical equipment when necessary.
  • Assists physician and APP with patient discharge including injections and orders prescriptions for high tech imaging, physical therapy, consults, medications, EMGs, fluoroscopy procedures, and surgical consent forms.
  • Instructs patients on home exercise plans, durable medical equipment and cast, splint and wound care.
  • Reviews and documents, as needed, data found in PA PDMP and provides to provider to review prior to narcotics being prescribed. Collects Urine Drug Screens as directed.
  • Assists with improving office flow by supporting other teams or departments as needed. Proactively adjusts processes to facilitate office flow and maintain office hours.
  • Travels to satellite offices as needed.
  • Maintains exam rooms and Clinical work area.  Keep the areas neat, clean and stocked with necessary supplies.  Performs end of day room cleaning and processes and documents properly.                                    
  • Assists with answering phone messages. Provides complete and accurate information to assist provider in answering patient calls. Clear and concise documentation is used and all messages are resolved in a timely manner.              
  • Observes HIPPA privacy practices. Maintains confidentiality of sensitive patient information at all times.   
  • Updates OR packets and materials for the team using Adobe PDF program.                        


Provides professional nursing care to office patients under supervision of patient care providers.


  • Draw blood.
  • Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health).
  • Administer medications including oral, SQ, IM and IV drip.
  • Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments.
  • Assess patient's general condition and take vital signs and weight.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures.
  • Perform IV therapy under direction of Registered Nurse.
  • Document all activities/interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed, etc., in the medical record.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.
  • Promote wellness by providing patient education materials, communicating physician advice/instructions.



  • Graduate of an approved LPN school of nursing.
  • One year clinical experience preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) OR Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
