Research Specialist | Youth and Family Research Program (YFRP)

Description

The Youth and Family Research Program (YFRP) in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh (www.yfrp.pitt.edu) is seeking a Research Specialist. The YFRP is dedicated to understanding the causes, course, prevention, and treatment of Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and related behavioral health problems, alcoholism, and drug addictions across the lifespan. The Youth and Family Research Program seeks to be an inclusive and safe space for all staff and participants. The Research Specialist (RS) will develop skills in sample recruitment and maintenance, survey development and programming, and data management. The RS will be responsible for recruitment of young adults (18-22) and a parent, conduct participant consenting, collect data remotely via Qualtrics surveys, and develop rapport with participants to facilitate sample retention. Additionally, the RS will participant in data management tasks including survey programming, data entry and data extraction, and they will actively participate in weekly lab meetings focused on recruitment and retention, measure development, and analyses of results.

Responsibilities:

  • Independently execute job functions for research protocol(s) including recruitment, obtaining consent, collecting data remotely via Qualtrics, (phone or face to face interviews as needed) for research project(s).
  • Develop rapport with study families and serve as their liaison through all stages of study participation
  • Collaborate with senior research personnel regarding recruitment, data collection, outcomes of participant interactions, reports according to the needs of the study.
  • Demonstrate excellence in the research environment by adhering to standards set forth by the YFRP research program, the Department of Psychiatry and the University of Pittsburgh.
  • Support state-of-the-art research methods to facilitate the increased understanding of pathophysiology, identification, diagnosis, and/or treatment of mental health disorders.
  • Demonstrate commitment to equity and inclusivity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Psychology, Neuroscience, Sociology or related research field.
  • Minimum of one year of work experience in a research project and/or related clinical setting is required.
  • Familiarity with computers and common software packages required (Microsoft Office, Qualtrics, SPSS).
  • Working knowledge of research methodology strongly preferred.

  • Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)
  • Driver's License
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
