UPMC complies with all governmental requirements related to local, state, and federal COVID-19 vaccination for employment. The Jan. 13 Supreme Court of the United States decision that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate will move forward requires UPMC to ensure employees either get vaccinated or receive a requested medical or religious exemption.

Description

Purpose:

The Division of Pediatric Ophthalmology, Strabismus, and Adult Motility at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh is comprised of 7 ophthalmologists and 2 optometrists with support from clinical and administrative staff members.  The division strives to provide the highest level of care to patients and families through clinical expertise, research initiatives, and strong administrative support.

The RN Temporary position is a critically supportive role designed to support patients, families, staff, and providers within the division.  This position is focused on clinical triage and administrative needs.  The responsibilities include pharmacy requests, communication regarding eyeglass and contact lens prescription, and prior authorizations, among other tasks as assigned.

The RN Temporary position plays a key role in coordinating and extending the care of patients outside of the office.  Excellent patient communication and organizational skills with a balanced approach to clinical and administrative needs of patient care are necessary.


Responsibilities:

  • Administrative related tasks include phone calls, scheduling (rare), and faxing
  • Assisting with various clinical roles. 

 

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing 


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

 

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
