UPMC Health Plan has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Marketing Technology Lead to support the Marketing and Communications Department!

The Marketing Technology Lead can work remotely, or a hybrid of remote and in-office time at the U.S. Steel Tower in Downtown Pittsburgh! This role works daylight hours, Monday through Friday!

The Marketing Technology Lead is a truly unique role that will act as a bridge between numerous teams, working as a liaison between IT support staff, marketing staff, vendors, and different lines of business around marketing platforms. This position will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of various marketing platforms, platform reporting, managing projects to meet business goals, and facilitating technical requirements for the marketing team. 

The ideal candidate for this position will have a passion for software solutions and problem-solving for business users!
The Marketing Technology Lead should be well versed in concepts such as platform integration, Application Programing Interfaces (APIs), data quality, and workflow processes. Additionally, experience with Salesforce or other Marketing Automation platforms and project management software, such as Workfront, is preferred!

Responsibilities:

  • Perform a business analyst function to evaluate marketing software and platforms that fill the gap for various business needs.
  • Develop efficient data structures, inputs, and processes for Marketing platforms owned and implemented by Marketing Operations, including the upstream and downstream effects of data format changes.
  • Perform the configuration and testing of audience “journey” tracking for CTA’s between communication tactics & various systems that support campaign analysis, dynamic content, reporting, and personalization.
  • Be the first line of support for marketing platform issues, and coordinate with internal and external support staff only when needed.
  • Document processes and maintain platform information in the Marketing Knowledgebase as the primary contact in Marketing Operations for all platforms.
  • Proactively identify and analyze issues/obstacles to determine and recommend appropriate courses of action.
  • Keep a record of permission differences for staff who create or revoke user accounts in various Marketing platforms.
  • Maintain platform utilization statistics and reporting to assist with implementation strategies for increased use of these systems by marketing staff.
  • Be aware of vendor platform upgrades and how they impact the department, including writing the department communications about these changes and providing support to staff when needed.
  • Work as a liaison between internal departments and vendors to implement cross-departmental marketing platforms and develop operational processes with marketing project management and operations staff.
  • Act as the subject matter expert on API documentation & platform data elements across all marketing platforms during implementation projects, or for departmental reporting and analytics needs.
  • Support the other team members from the Marketing Operations and Marketing Administration teams as needed, including project management efforts, operational reporting requests, marketing automation, channel readiness, and operations leadership.
  • Lead or assist in the communication between IT and Marketing staff for issue resolution of different severity, through access to the IT Department ticketing systems.
  • Manage aspects of various marketing platforms including vendor relationships, administrative functions, process improvements, user account permissions, reporting, and assist in championing the use of these platforms in the department.
  • Manage ad-hoc projects for marketing platforms such as integration into our portals, single sign-on functionality, and system updates.
  • Influence roadmap features and functions across platforms, using industry benchmarks and product innovations across the Martech landscape.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Information Technology or related, with a proper understanding of platform use in large corporations & departments. 
  • Minimum of 3 years supporting automation, system deployment, or technical integration between platforms.
  • Knowledge of the evaluation processes for platform selection, and experience writing business requirements.
  • Knowledge of the data used in operations reporting, the various functions of different IT roles, and the general marketing system landscape.
  • Ability to take business processes and align them to software processes and capabilities.
  • Must be able to document project and task work appropriately, and present information clearly for different audiences.
  • Must be structured, organized, proactive, and able to work independently with little direction.
  • Experience with managing support calls with vendor support staff and making configuration changes in software systems, as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud or other Marketing Automation/CRM/CDP platforms.
  • Good understanding of Content ecosystem components like CMS, DAM, Personalization engines, Taxonomy/Metadata Management, Workflow tools, etc.
  • Familiarity with Agile project delivery methodology, ceremonies, and tools.
  • Experience with Project Management tools (e.g. Workfront, Wrike, Monday.com).
