UPMC complies with all governmental requirements related to local, state, and federal COVID-19 vaccination for employment. The Jan. 13 Supreme Court of the United States decision that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate will move forward requires UPMC to ensure employees either get vaccinated or receive a requested medical or religious exemption.

Are you a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who has always wanted to work in Pediatrics, or a seasoned Peds nurse looking for the next step in your career? Do you want a better work/life balance? UPMC's Hershey Pediatric Center has an opening for you.

Hershey Pediatric Center is a small, busy office with 4 providers that is growing and needs a Full-time LPN to join their team. The LPN is a valuable part of the clinical staff at this location. As part of our team, you will enjoy no weekend work, no on-call, and a set weekly schedule. You will be a successful LPN at this office if you can multi-task, critically think on your feet, and enjoy working with a wonderful group of coworkers. Hours will be Mondays 1:30pm-9pm, Tuesday - Friday 8:30am-5pm. 

Responsibilities:

  • Give injections to babies and children
  • Phone triage
  • Assist with small procedures such as, but not limited to, suture or staple removal
  • Medication refills
  • Pediatric wellness education to family members
  • Work 1:1 with a provider each day, room the patients, take vital signs & weight, and assess their general condition
  • Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures and treatments.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures.
  • Document all activities/interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed, etc., in the medical record.
  • Promote wellness by providing patient education materials, communicating physician advice/instructions, and closely align with the American Academy of Pediatrics 

 

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved LPN school of nursing.
  • One year clinical experience preferred, but not required
  • Open to taking a newly graduated nurse 

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) OR Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
