Pharmacy Admin Fellow - Year 1

Description

UPMC Presbyterian is looking for a Pharmacy Admin Fellow, Year 1 to join their dedicated team!

  • Stipend for year 1 - $76,668
  • Stipend for year 2 - $82,534

The UPMC Pharmacy Administration Fellowship Program (PAFP) is an integrated program that offers learning experiences in both the UPMC Health System and through the dedicated scope of responsibility at UPMC Presbyterian. The program is a 24-month experience designed to provide fellows with practical experience in health care management through the rotation-based structure that trains young professionals and helps them develop leadership skills and qualities. Each fellow will be expected to work on various projects during each rotation, and maintain their assigned scope of responsibility while also learning from their preceptors and mentors.

This role will work daylight shifts, Monday through Friday as well as every fourth weekend.

Responsibilities:

  • Completion of the 18 core rotations plus 6 elective rotations. Availability of elective rotations is subject to the fellows' interests and also the availability of the division/department desired.
  • Lead special projects and system-wide initiatives both short and long term.
  • Provide a written summary of experiences and key issues learned at the conclusion of each rotation and must provide feedback on how the rotation could be improved.
  • Must build relationships throughout the organization and proactively seek projects and opportunities for the second year of the fellowship.
  • Maintain operations, oversee staff and manage all other aspects of an assigned scope of responsibility.
  • Must complete all tasks and projects as assigned by members of the program director, coordinator, and preceptors.
  • Attend all relevant management and administrative meetings. May be required to provide administrative support for some of these meetings.
  • Participate in a structured mentorship program that requires meeting regularly with preceptors and mentors and providing all necessary information to ensure a mutually beneficial experience.
  • Maintain a portfolio of work and experiences as at the end of the program, Fellows will have gained an understanding of clinical operations both in the pharmacy and in general for the hospital at large, as well as had the opportunity to work in areas such as finance, business/network development, performance improvement, human resources, patient safety/quality, physician relations, nursing relations and marketing/recruitment/ talent acquisition/communications and use the portfolio to demonstrate this involvement.
  • Coordinate day-to-day operational management.
  • Assist in the recruitment of new Administrative Fellows and should serve as a mentor for junior colleagues.
  • Serve as an interim leader on institutional leadership committees.

 

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from an accredited school of pharmacy or B.S. with 2 years of experience Completion of a residency program preferred
  • Excellent communication, analytical, financial, and interpersonal skills are requiredAbility to interface with numerous players in various departments and entities is important
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Pharmacist license required within 6 months
  • Pharmacist
