Summary:
UPMC Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine is hiring a Research Grant Writer. This position is in Oakland, PA. Responsible for collaborating with research faculty to generate grant proposals for new and existing projects. Coordinate with internal and external collaborators to write letters of intent, research plans, biosketches, and reports. The incumbent will work with investigators to develop and manage a timeline, coordinate proposal development, investigator feedback meetings, and review drafts to ensure that the individual components are well integrated in the final product. Strong scientific writing and computer skills required along with team work on accounting, finance, and budgeting will make you the perfect applicant for this role.
Responsibilities:
- Assists research faculty in preparing all necessary application forms for funding by external agencies and internal funders with correct institutional information, including consolidation of all required components of the proposal, review of the written text and verifying the correct formats.
- Prepares scientific, administrative, and technical sections as needed, including research strategy, supportive research documents (e.g. human subjects research), biosketches, letters of support, budget justification, and principal investigator waiver applications.
- Responsible for completing and coordinating submission of research proposals to the NIH and other funding agencies.
- Ensure that all regulatory, UPMC and University of Pittsburgh policies are met and that the proposed research project has been reviewed and approved by the Division and Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine.
- Ensure compliance with federal and non-federal sponsor requirements.
- Make recommendations to improve proposals and procedures as needed.
Qualifications
- Doctorate in relevant field and 5 years of professional science writing and communications experience preferably with expertise in research development, NIH grants, foundation proposals, and coordinating multi-collaborator initiatives. and communication experience preferred, or a master's with 10 years of relevant experience.
- Strong scientific writing and computer skills required along with teamwork on accounting, finance, and budgeting.
- Motivated individual who will independently or as a member of a team to meet established goals.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Must be willing to learn in a fast-paced environment
- Proven NIH/other funding record with the writing strongly preferred.
