Description


UPMC Health Plan is currently hiring a Project Manager for their Business Performance Improvement department.  In this position, you will lead high-priority projects and programs to success for the business. You will provide a clear vision of the projects' value, goals, and plan to achieve the projects' value and ROI. In this role, you will define the project metrics with the responsible business owners.  You will also develop and maintain detailed project plans and reports. You will provide clear direction, leadership, and accountability for project management efforts.  You will apply, coach, teach and advocate world-class best practices in Lean, Agile, systems thinking, You will use scaled Agile and related processes for business performance and agility.  You will use Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) implementation and facilitation across areas is a significant focus of this role to enhance business agility.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Assist team members in resolving project problems; escalate issues when necessary, and facilitate decision-making.
  • Apply coach, teach and advocate best practices in project management, Agile, Scaled Agile, Lean, Six Sigma, and other applicable methodologies to maximize business agility and performance.
  • Work with other managers to achieve efficiencies across the integration of multiple projects and operational processes.
  • Develop and implement key metrics to measure and report on progress and value of initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans; this includes utilizing standard project and Agile documentation, methodology, project tracking, and reporting.
  • Proactively identify trends and process improvement opportunities across departments within projects and operations.
  • Provide concise and timely status reporting as required.
  • Assure quality of information through business case and process/application level testing; validate test results per the business needs.
  • Lead project teams to create enhanced business value and positive ROI.
  • Consistently demonstrate performance towards UPMC's values.
  • Assist with achieving Operations division strategic goals as well as system strategic goals.
  • Manage technology and business process improvement, ensuring value realization of project results for operations.
  • Apply cross-functional, change management and implementation strategies; ensure that all of the participating parties have committed to effective implementation of the processes and procedures; providing synergies and value beyond what can be provided in a single functional areas.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree.Major in in engineering, business, mathematics, statistics, health care, management, or related field. (extensive related - 4+yrs - experience will be considered).
  • 4+ years of experience in operations.
  • 2+ years of experience in project management.
  • Strong management, problem solving, organizational, and communication skills (oral and written) are required.
  • Excellent Project Management skills. Ability to perform planning for multiple and/or large initiatives/projects, managing all tasks required to provide services to meet client and business needs within budget and targeted deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively manage project business value, scope, time, cost, quality, people, communication, risk, procurement & vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Excellent computer skills required, including Access, Excel, Word, Microsoft Project, and other pertinent software applications.
  • Experience in health care insurance or health care industry preferred.


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
PMI's PMP? Certification required or completion of UPMC Health Plan PM Certification within one year from date of hire.
