We are currently offering a generous sign-on bonus for Professional Staff Nurses. Sign-On Bonus Details:

  • $7,500 for a 2-year commitment to UPMC for part time roles

UPMC Presbyterian is currently hiring a part time (job share) Professional Staff Nurse to support the PACU. Our PACU consists of both the Montefiore and Presbyterian Post-Op Care Units and Pre-Op Units. We care for both same day and inpatient surgical patients, performing both pre-op and post-op care. In total, we oversee 20 pre-op beds, 32 post-op beds, 1 isolation room, and 6 overflow beds. We are 2:1 ratio except for critical, unstable, or intensive care patients. We boast a fast-paced, ever-changing environment with a highly experienced team… there is always someone to learn something new from! In our department, we staff 24/7 so covering call shifts is a requirement for our staff. In this role, you will work rotating shifts with limited weekends and nights. You will be on call several times per month.

The Professional Staff Nurse is a valued step in the UPMC nursing career ladder, with opportunities for continued growth and advancement; salary will be determined based upon education and nursing experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Applies the nursing process within the framework of Relationship Based Care to create a healing environment. Formulates daily goals and a plan of care for patients that involves the patient as partner and considers the individual needs of the patient in a holistic manner.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking in the identification of clinical, social, safety, psychological, and spiritual issues for the patient within an episode of care.
  • Practices solid communication skills and can articulate and translate the patient's condition to other care providers and to negotiate and make recommendations for changes in patient care and unit practices. Patient documentation is comprehensive and promotes communication between caregivers.
  • Creates a caring and compassionate patient-focused experience by building healing relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Incorporates national professional organization as well as business unit and health system goals to improve patient safety, quality, and satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Minimum six months Nursing experience required. One year Nursing experience STRONGLY preferred.
  • Experience in ICU or Med/Surg Nursing STRONGLY preferred.
  • Mobility and visual manual dexterity. Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting and positioning of patients.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse either in the state where the facility is located or in a state covered by a licensure compact agreement with the state where the facility is located.
  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Act 34
