UPMC is looking for a Systems Analyst to join their team. This position is 100% remote and will require participation in on call rotation including weekends.

Under the general direction of the management team and senior staff, the Systems Analyst - Intermediate provides experienced analytical services, defining requirements, developing and/or maintaining computer applications/systems, and providing services to meet client IT and business needs.

CDB ( Corporate Data Base ) 60%

  • Support the daily CDB data loads.  I fix any issues that arise during the data loads.
  • Maintain CDB tables, procedures and packages. Adding new columns, tables and procedures as required.
  • Maintain the UNIX scripts and SQLLoader scripts to support the CDB data loads.
  • Maintain the MOMI database.  This is running on a CDB instance separate schema from main cdbuser schema.   Currently this is only Magee data. there have been discussions about added other hospitals.
  • Support the monthly IAR reserve tables and procedures in CDB. This is used for the revenue cycle monthly close. We have added data from Susquehanna, Chautauqua, and Pinnacle hospitals in recent months.
  • Support a MA COST application. This is yearly process which requires creating new tables every October 1st. I also support the Cognos framework for this. I need to update this framework once a year to add the new tables.
  • Analyze long runing Cognos reports. I’ll make suggestions to report writers to help their reports perform better.
  • Supply quarterly files to Childrens hospital for details charges for a special project they are involved with.
  • KP40, COI, MRS and others..
  • Work & support EPIC Project currently going on, which has multiple waves planned for each hospital identified at UPMC
  • Be in on-call Rotation
  • BIG Ones Oracle.UNIX, and SQL, and any EPIC Implementation, and Kronos Familiarity would be a +

Kronos Responsibilities: 40%

  • Provide Kronos Application configuration and development support to enhance system usage, resolve system issues and configure new features.
  • Identify and build testing scenarios, develop test scripts, and ensure customer validates test results.
  • Troubleshoot system application issues, with minimal help and with collaboration from the team.
  • Assist in hospital/system integrations and unit testing of the system to ensure that objectives are met.
  • Manage multiple end-user issues/request and product system changes in collaborating with appropriate functional teams and planning on time commitments.
  • Embody a customer focus with excellent communication skills and for quality and improvement.
  • Monitoring Interfaces and creating ad hoc reports as needed.
  • Communicate with end-users on Product Support and provide solutions.
  • Utilize Oracle SQL to identify and analyze data, build interfaces, and provide end-user support.
  • Lead successful project implementation of System Changes, Upgrades, Service Packs.
  • Rotate doing Maintenance window Wednesday night per Greg`s direction as senior technical go too.
  • MISC and all Other duties as assigned.

General Responsibility:

  • Second and Third Level Support (Including Maintenance Activities) Independently triage and resolve level 1 and level 2 support issues. Escalate level 3 support issues accordingly.
  • Application Upgrades and Implementation review and validate functionality of application upgrades and implementations. Report back on any problems. Identify new functionality and/or hardware requirements as assigned. Ability to create test plans.
  • System Integration complete assigned tasks related to system integration. Validate testing. Ability to modify existing test plans.
  • Project Management create and contributes to project tasks and milestones. Update all project management and time tracking tools accordingly. Ability to take full ownership of a project.



  • Typically has 2+ years experience with modern technology and application support through education or practical experience.
  • Knowledge of PowerShell is preferred.
  • Working experience with Oracle SQL coding/programming preffered.
  • Working experience with Unix coding/programming preferred.
  • Kronos knowledge preferred. 
  • Looking for someone who can hit the ground running and dive right into the work, highly driven and self-motivated to meet expectations.
  • Demonstrates thorough understanding of information technology fundamental tools and concepts (SDLC) of one of the information technology professional disciplines and applies that understanding to make independent practical contributions to IT work within a UPMC department or function.
  • Completes on-going training on-the-job, through courses, self-study, certifications and/or advanced degrees to maintain and enhance technical and business capabilities.
  • Additionally, this position may be required to maintain a stand by status as part of a rotation within the team. This requires 24 hours per day, 7 days per week availability during the stand by period. The frequency varies based upon the number of colleagues in the rotation.
