COVID-19 Vaccination Information

Across UPMC, our guiding principle is to always prioritize the safety of our employees, patients, and members. UPMC believes that vaccination is important, helps protect all, and advocates that everyone who can be vaccinated should be vaccinated.

UPMC complies with all governmental requirements related to local, state, and federal COVID-19 vaccination for employment. The Jan. 13 Supreme Court of the United States decision that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate will move forward requires UPMC to ensure employees either get vaccinated or receive a requested medical or religious exemption.

If you are not yet vaccinated, we urge you to get a vaccine now. You can schedule your COVID-19 vaccination through UPMC or visit a non-UPMC provider or UPMC Urgent Care location.

Proof of vaccination is not required upon hire; however, employees will be responsible for ensuring post-hire compliance by getting vaccinated or requesting a medical or religious exemption.

UPMC Center for Care of Infectious Diseases (CCID)  provides our team with amazing learning opportunities and experiences in outpatient specialty medical practices. You will be able to gain experience in rooming, phlebotomy, assist with life-changing procedures, immunizations, and work with a UPMC Aces Award-Winning Team. You will deliver direct patient care to both short-term and long-term patients who require a combination of primary care and specialty care. The impactful patients we see include persons with HIV, acute and chronic infections, travelers, and transplant patients. In our department, you will find supportive, approachable, knowledgeable, and down-to-earth team members and leaders.

Sign-On Bonus:

  • The Sign-On bonus for LPNs is $5,000 for Graduate Nurses with a two-year work commitment.
  • The Sign-On bonus for LPNs is $7,500 for Experienced Nurses with a two-year work commitment.

Responsibilities:

  • Draw blood.
  • Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health).
  • Administer medications including oral, SQ, IM, and IV drips.
  • Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments.
  • Assess the patient's general condition and take vital signs and weight.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures.
  • Perform IV therapy under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
  • Document all activities/interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed, etc., in the medical record.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.
  • Promote wellness by providing patient education materials, communicating physician advice/instructions.
  • Perform specimen collection duties as requested.

 

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved LPN school of nursing. One year clinical experience preferred.


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) OR Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Act 34
