Research Associate Sr WPIC | The Seney Lab

Description

The Seney Lab (SENEY LAB – University of Pittsburgh – Understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying psychiatric and substance use disorders.) in the Translational Neuroscience Program and Department of Psychiatry is searching for a research principal for research into the molecular mechanisms underlying brain disorders. Studies in the Seney Lab encompass parallel investigations in human postmortem subjects and in rodent models, using behavioral, molecular, and anatomical methods combined with large-scale transcriptomics, bioinformatics, and statistical testing and modeling, together forming a translational research program aimed at investigating the biological bases of brain disorders. The Research Associate Sr will oversee established research projects aimed at investigating the cellular and molecular underpinnings of mood and addiction disorders. These projects involve molecular biology, confocal microscopy, mouse behavior, and/or biostatistical approaches.

This position is grant funded.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide research support for various established studies.
  • Collect research data and assist with data analysis.
  • Assist with preparation of scientific manuscripts.
  • Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Mentor, train, and assist with supervising junior research staff.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree required preferably in Neuroscience, or related research field.
  • Minimum of one year of work experience in a research project and/or related clinical setting is required.
  • Familiarity with computers and common software packages required.
  • Working knowledge of research methodology strongly preferred.
  • Previous research experience in studying mood and addiction disorders is preferred.
  • Experience or expertise in molecular biology, confocal microscopy, mouse behavior, and/or biostatistics.
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Act 34 with renewal
