UPMC complies with all governmental requirements related to local, state, and federal COVID-19 vaccination for employment. The Jan. 13 Supreme Court of the United States decision that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate will move forward requires UPMC to ensure employees either get vaccinated or receive a requested medical or religious exemption.

Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Technician - EIC Program

Description

Paid Training Program. Must be able to work Full-Time Rotating Shifts
UPMC is hiring full-time Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Technicians for a training program. If hired, you will be enrolled in a four week long, hands on, paid training program. The training is held during daylight hours, Monday through Friday only. After the training program, your full time NA/PCT position will require rotating availability - including daylight, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts.
 
Upon successful completion of the training program, you will be offered a full-time position at one of our four urban hospitals. Your full-time placement will be at UPMC Presbyterian, Shadyside, Mercy, or Magee Hospitals - and candidates must be open to all locations. 
 
 
Job Responsibilities
  • Attend the four-week training program to learn the following skills/duties 
  • UPMC nursing core Nursing Assistant responsibilities of blood glucose, weights, vital signs, intake and output, specimen collections and foley care 
  • At least four of the following tasks: phlebotomy, 12 lead EKG, simple dressing, foley catheter removal, point of care testing, bladder scan, straight catheter, or IV catheter removal. 
  • Activities of daily living and medical record documentation 
  • Comply with all EIC NA/PCT Training Program policies and procedures, including safety, personal conduct, and dress code

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Must attend EIC training program if no previous hospital or pre-hospital training
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
