UPMC complies with all governmental requirements related to local, state, and federal COVID-19 vaccination for employment. The Jan. 13 Supreme Court of the United States decision that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate will move forward requires UPMC to ensure employees either get vaccinated or receive a requested medical or religious exemption.

Description

Purpose:
Perform receptionist, clerk and computer entry duties. Greet outpatients, answer phone, order/accession laboratory tests and interact with phlebotomy staff. When assigned as main lab clerk, answer phone for test result inquiries, accession tests and registers specimens. Additionally, print, deliver and file of laboratory patient reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet outpatients.
  • Order, accession and outpatient tests.
  • Print OP summary reports and inpatient cumulative reports.
  • Fax reports to physician offices.
  • Call physician offices for Medicare diagnosis and use PCA software to verify Medicare coverage for required testing.
  • Perform fax audit, OP requisitions audit and duplicate charge audit.
  • Answer telephones, give test results to physicians and take messages.
  • Order and accession laboratory tests.
  • Print patient reports.

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma.
  • Good interpersonal skills for dealing with patients, doctors, nurses and other UPMC Chatauqua personnel required.
  • Good interpersonal skills required.
  • Good computer skills and telephone skills
