COVID-19 Vaccination Information

Across UPMC, our guiding principle is to always prioritize the safety of our employees, patients, and members. UPMC believes that vaccination is important, helps protect all, and advocates that everyone who can be vaccinated should be vaccinated.

UPMC complies with all governmental requirements related to local, state, and federal COVID-19 vaccination for employment. The Jan. 13 Supreme Court of the United States decision that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate will move forward requires UPMC to ensure employees either get vaccinated or receive a requested medical or religious exemption.

Early Career Transition Associate (ECTA) - PNC/UPMC Mercy Partner Up Program

Description

The Early Career Transition Associate (ECTA) is a role intended for the PNC Partner Up program!

The following positions are the 4 options to choose from:

Transporter: 

  • The Transporter performs safe and efficient transport of patients and items to and from nursing units and other departments in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Food Service:

  • Food Service Attendant - Responsible for the timely assembly, final preparation, and service of nutritionally appropriate and attractive meals.  Practices appropriate food handling techniques and food safety procedures in all aspects of job.  Demonstrates excellent customer service skills on a consistent basis.
  • Kitchen Steward - Maintains standards of housekeeping and sanitation in production, service, dining, and storage areas.  Maintains department in an inspection-ready condition in accordance with Health Department guidelines.

Environmental Services (EVS) Associate

  • The EVS Associate cleans all aspects of assigned areas, including patient rooms, public areas, offices, and equipment, to meet Hospital and Department standards to promote the quality of care rendered in the environment.  The EVS Associate is also responsible for moving equipment, furniture, boxes, etc. and remove and hang blinds and curtains.

Qualifications

Transporter:

  • Deliver supplies, equipment, and other materials to the patient units, and other designated areas in a safe, timely, and accurate manner.
  • Delivers supplies, equipment, medication and other materials to the patient units, and other designated areas in a safe, timely, and accurate manner.
  • Ensures that a handoff of medication occurs with the nurse.

Food Service Attendant

  • Adheres to hand hygiene and infection control procedures on a consistent basis when interacting with customers.
  • Assures the necessary food and service equipment / utensils are secured for assigned area prior to meal service.
  • Assembles and serves meals according to diet orders, menus, and patient / guest specific requirements.
  • Maintains food safety and quality as mandated by PA Department of Health/Allegheny County Health Department/PA Department of Welfare (where applicable)
  • Performs sanitation for assigned work area in accordance with departmental procedures and health department guidelines.
  • May also perform the following job responsibilities based on Facility/Department requirements:
    • Inventories and stocks bulk supplies, following established procedures and designated timeframes.
    • Patient Service Specific Responsibility: Serves patient meal tray using the designated department script, to include proper patient identification.
    • Bus tables and sanitize tables and chairs and deliver meals to residents' rooms when requested.
    • Set tables for the following meal according to the Food Service Guidelines Manual.

Kitchen Steward

  • Cleans and sanitizes dishes and related service ware following established procedures.
  • Cleans and sanitizes pots, pans, utensils, and other minor equipment routinely used in the kitchen following established procedures.
  • Uses and maintains equipment according to manufacturer and department guidelines; follows all safety procedures.
  • Cleans large equipment as assigned, following established procedures as well as cleans and maintains floors and walls in designated food service areas following established procedures.
  • Monitors and records temperatures according to operation guidelines.
  • Consistently adheres to SDS information related to the proper and safe use of chemicals in the workplace.
  • Collects and removes trash from all areas of the operation following established procedures and adheres to recycling guidelines.
  • Always maintains inspection-readiness and follows HACCP procedures while completing job duties.
  • Assist in light food preparation as directed by manager or chef on duty in addition to completing table settings with water, butter, and crackers prior to each meal, and assists in serving food and beverages to the residents in the dining room

 

Environment Services Associate:

  • Clean all assigned areas, including patient rooms, public areas, toilets, procedure rooms, offices and equipment, following established procedures.
  • Remove trash from all assigned areas, replenish paper towels, toilet paper, and soap in all locations of assigned areas to assure adequate supply. Also, responsible to make beds, following established cleaning procedures in all patient discharge rooms and on-call rooms as assigned.
  • Move equipment, furniture, boxes, wash walls, spot carpets, etc. as assigned and inspect and ensure that all assigned areas are properly cleaned and in good repair, report problems to the supervisor.
  • Maintain assigned equipment in clean, working condition, reporting problems and suggestions to the supervisor, and follow all safety and sanitation regulations.
