Food Service Worker (fulltime) - UPMC McKeesort

UPMC McKeesport is currently looking to hire fulltime Food Service Workers to work various shifts between 6 am – 7 pm.  This position will have rotating weekend and holiday responsibility.

Purpose:
Under the supervision of the Food Service Supervisor, is responsible for setting up the patient tray line prior to meal time; portioning patient food items and condiments according to the meal selection and cleaning up tray line after meals, preparing and delivering individual nourishments and unit par stocks.

Responsibilities:

  • Empties tray delivery carts and disposes trash according to procedure.
  • Assists in training of new employees.
  • Carries out job responsibilities in a manner that is consistent with the service management vision of UPMC McKeesport and the established Nutrition and Food Service Department performance standards.
  • Cleans and sanitizes assigned work areas daily including, but not limited to, work surfaces, patient delivery carts, refrigerators and other related equipment.
  • Accurately performs the duties of the assigned positions in the designated time period.
  • Assists with the washing, sanitizing and restocking of service ware and tray delivery carts.
  • Places the appropriate portion of food on patient trays accurately and in the designated area on the tray according to menu selection and specific type of diet.
  • Operates the cash register, gives accurate change to customers and performs daily reading and drawer count.
  • Prepares individual nourishments for patients as needed; provides tube feeding products and supplements as ordered.
  • Provides units with bulk par stocks according to census.
  • Handles all food according to HACCP guidelines.
  • Ensures the necessary items for the tray line operation are secured for assigned area prior to meal service, including food items as well as service equipment and utensils.
  • Cleans, sanitizes and restocks assigned station after each meal to assure the stations are ready for the next meal period.
  • Retrieves clean service ware and utilizes the set procedure for placing the service ware and tray delivery carts back into operation.
  • Ensures that bases and dishes are at an appropriate service temperature.
  • Sweeps and mops floors as assigned following established procedures.
  • Provides supplies to other areas as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Previous food service experience is preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Act 34
