UPMC Urgent Care at Shadyside is hiring an Access Lead to join their team! This position has rotating hours consisting of three 12-hour shifts from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. It will rotate through weekends, weekdays, and holidays. You will typically work two weekend shifts per month. This position will require travelling between Pleasant Hills Urgent care and Shadyside locations.
Every day is different at Urgent Care, fast paced with a wide variety of patients and patient needs. The Lead role combines front line hands on responsibilities as well as opportunities to help colleagues improve accuracy and efficiency. The staff in this position provide the entry experience for patients. Courtesy, kindness & friendliness set the stage for a great patient experience!
Responsibilities:
- Adds patients to schedule; collects and verifies demographic & insurance information.
- Reviews/corrects registrations to allow bill to drop and for training/feedback to other staff.
- Periodic responsibilities include requesting monthly templates for providers, monthly alarm testing, requests templates for providers, etc.
- Places orders for general office supplies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED and three years of experience in a related fiscal/admissions/registration function, or Associate degree and one year experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Medical terminology, third party health care coverage experience and strong understanding of managed care regulations are required.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills and be able to remain professional and courteous when dealing with sensitive issues and stressful circumstances.
- Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately with all ages of patients. Possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs.
